Rude boys play best.

I’ve always known how to make girls fall to their knees.
When I open my mouth and play my music, they line up to scream my name.
Cole Travis, rock star and high school legend.
Fans beg me for a dirty smile and a filthy kiss.
And I give them everything they could ever want.
All these years, I thought it was enough.
Until her.
Monica Romero, the new girl whose wistful eyes hide a closed-off heart.
A heart I know belongs to me but one I can never have.
She doesn’t know me.
My band.
My reputation.
Not even my name.
But she will remember me…
Because if I can’t have her…
No one will.

About Black Mountain Academy:

From the outside, it may look perfect and ideal—school uniforms, exemplary teachers, privileged students. But anyone on the inside could tell you about the debauchery, the scandals, the drama, the forbidden–taboo–romances.

Because where Black Mountain Academy is concerned… never judge a book by its cover.

Excerpt 1

“Truth or dare,” I say, as my eyes struggle not to follow all the tiny beads of water trickling down his tattooed chest.

“Truth,” he replies, his voice as serious as the look on his face.

“Why do you bully me?” I ask.

He lowers his head to meet mine. “Because I need you to hate me.”

I gasp. “But … why?”

That familiar smirk pops right back up onto his face. “One question, Mo.”

Fuck. I wish I’d asked a better one.

“Truth or dare.”

“Truth.” I don’t think I’m gonna like this, but I’m not up for another one of his dares.

“You felt something when I kissed you, didn’t you?”

My heart swells.

I had not expected that.

Don’t get lost. Monica. It’s not real. None of it is. He’s a player. Someone who toys with hearts and minds. Someone who likes to win just for the sake of it.

“No,” I reply, trying to shake off this dread.

The look on his face is dead serious now. “Don’t lie to me. That’s not how this game works.”

“Prove it,” I retort, glaring right back at him. “Prove I’m lying.”

His hand reaches for my face. I don’t flinch, the mere touch of his hand on my skin enough to make me freeze. His palm cups my cheek, and I melt into him as his thumb brushes my lips, pulling one down as he slides farther and farther.

“Is that a dare?” he asks with a husky voice.

Excerpt 2

When he turns around to face me in all his half-naked glory, I gulp and I swear to God he could hear it because that fucking smirk appears again … the one he’s given me so many times when he caught me in the act.

“Are you done?” I ask.

He raises a brow. “Are you?” He approaches me again. “Because all I know is that you never stop running into me.”

“Running into you?” I scoff. “It was an accident. Those happen.”

“Not that often,” he replies, getting closer and closer again. “So I’m thinking … what if it isn’t a coincidence?”

“It is,” I growl back. “An unfortunate one too.”

“Really? Because your eyes don’t say what your mouth is saying, Mo.”

“Stop calling me that,” I hiss.

He leans in and plants a hand on the wall beside my head, trapping me inside. “Why can’t I call you Mo, Mo?”

“It’s a name reserved for friends,” I reply in all seriousness, even though I know he’s messing with me.

“Ouch … That hurts, Mo …” He grabs his heart with his free hand. “Almost enough to make me care.”

“Why are you doing this? Do you enjoy taunting me?”

He wets his lip with his tongue. “Maybe … Or maybe I just want to find out what makes you …” He taps my chest with one finger. “Tick.”

“Why? Why do you care so much?” I ask, my lips shuddering when he leans in so close, I can feel his breath on my skin.

A tepid, angered smile appears on his face, one that makes my heart stop.

“The question is … why don’t you?” he whispers, the tension between us almost visible with the naked eye, crackling in the air. He bites his lip, right where I left my mark the last time he tried to kiss me. “You pretend you don’t like it when I look at you, you pretend you don’t care when you see me play … but you want me.” He brushes along my cheek with the back of his hand in such an addictive way that I almost want to give in. “Admit it … You loved it when I kissed you … and you wanted more.”

His hand slides down my shirt, down along my nipples which immediately peak from the attention, and I gasp in response. He’s never been this direct, this bold, and it literally takes my breath away when he grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him.

“Tell me I’m wrong … tell me I’m lying …” he whispers into my ear, his hand diving underneath my skirt. He’s unrelenting as he slides up my thighs and pulls at my panties, tugging them down in one go. His hand cups my pussy and my eyes almost roll into the back of my head as he starts fondling me. “Tell me then …” he whispers. “Tell me the truth and I might just care enough to leave you alone.”

My lips part but my voice chokes up completely from his lips grazing my skin right beneath my ear.

“You can’t, can you?” he whispers, and I can hear him smile.

Suddenly, he pulls his hand away and my pussy is left throbbing with a need I didn’t know I could feel. Fuck.

“Fuck you …” I growl as he smirks with pleasure, as though he’s just won the grand prize.

Right then, the door opens and a girl steps inside. She stops the moment she notices Cole standing there, half-naked like some rock God on stage. He doesn’t even grant her one look. All his attention is focused solely on me, and I don’t know if I should be mortified by her catching us doing lewd shit or scared of the consequences of Cole fucking Travis setting his eyes on me.

The girl swiftly passes Cole and enters a stall, which breaks his attention.

Then the bell rings. He makes a face and shakes his head. “You got off lucky, Mo …” he muses, and he grabs his shirt and throws it over his shoulder. “You won’t be so lucky next time.” As he turns around to walk off without even putting on his shirt, he still manages to throw me a wink … one that dizzies and confuses me more than ever. Because I swear to God I’ve never wanted any guy more than I want Cole Travis.

And it’s going to destroy me.
